ST. LOUIS, Mo. - LGBTQIA+ friends, family and allies will again descend on Busch Stadium downtown for the 4th official Pride Night at Busch Stadium to watch the St. Louis Cardinals take on National League Central division rivals, the Cincinnati Reds, on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 7:15 p.m.
With the purchase of a special Theme Ticket, fans will receive a commemorative Cardinals rainbow mesh cap, plus a wearable rainbow flag. Pride night tickets can be purchased by clicking HERE. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to the St. Louis-based Metro Trans Umbrella Group.
On deck for Pride Night will be the ceremonial first pitch, the St. Louis Balloon Brigade, and CHARIS – The St. Louis Women’s Chorus and the Gateway Men’s Chorus singing “God Bless America” prior to the game.
The Pride Night tradition was started in 2001 by the Chicago Cubs with “Gay Days” (now called “Out at Wrigley"). According to Cyd Zeigler, founder of the LGBTQ sports blog OutSports, all but two of the Major League Baseball teams held some form of LGBTQ Pride Night at their respective parks in 2019.
"The sports world has long been assumed to be homophobic and an unwelcoming place for LGBTQ people," said Zeigler. "These Pride Nights are another positive step to demonstrate that the sports world is actually far more accepting than almost anyone gives it credit. It's great to see the Cardinals continue to welcome the community and embrace that message."
Please note: The Pride cap/flag is available only with the purchase of a special Theme Ticket. All Theme Night purchases for events that include giveaway items will come with a game ticket and a separate voucher. The voucher can be redeemed at the game or pregame festival for that event's giveaway item. You will not be able to receive the item unless you have your voucher with you at the event. You may pick up your items at the Budweiser Terrace Theme Tickets kiosk, across from Section 431, from 5:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
