St. Louis LGBT Population is Nearly 7K Says Gallup Poll

Recently released data analysis from Gallup shows that 3.6 percent of the St. Louis metro population identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.
Results for the Gallup poll, which puts St. Louis' LGBT population at 6,912, were based on telephone interviews conducted from June 2012-December 2014. A random sample of 374,325 employed adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia were asked "do you, personally, identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender."
With a margin of sampling error of ±1%, Gallup polled the nation's top metropolitan statistical areas. Also ranked in Missouri was Kansas City.
Not surprisingly, San Francisco topped the poll with the most LGBT residents. Still, the results show that LGBT people spread proportionally across every region of the country. According to Gallup, 3.6 percent of adults identify as LGBT, but even outside of the 50 largest metro areas, the queer population sits at around 3 percent.
