St. Louis Frontrunners Offers Runs, Walks, & Events

Did you know the St. Louis Frontrunners, a non-competitive LGBTQIA+ running and walking club, offers a variety of events to get active and socialize with two club run options each week? Further, the group also offers club social and volunteer opportunities and often joins other area running clubs or races as participants and volunteers to support its efforts.

Tuesday Runs

Forest Park Visitor Center

6:15 p.m.

Tuesday night runs are an opportunity to run with the club for a shorter weekday run. Runs typically go two to four miles. No experience is required to participate and these are great runs for beginners just getting into running. Bring water and depending on the time of year, you may also want to bring a headlamp.

During the winter months the Frontrunners tend to have lower turnout on Tuesday night runs due to the cold and the fact that it is dark. If you'd like to join a Tuesday night run with them please email Cody Woods (secretary.stlouisfrontrunners "at" gmail.com) prior to so he can arrange to be there to meet you and/or make sure other runners will be there. (They'd hate for you to show up and not have any other runners there.)

During the Fall, Spring, & Summer Frontrunners enjoy a larger group on Tuesday evening runs. You can typically spot them outside the visitor center or just inside (depending on temperature) sporting their white STL Frontrunners hats!

Saturday Run/Walk

Forest Park Visitor Center

7:30 a.m. Runners

9:00 a.m. Walkers

Saturday Run/Walks are an opportunity to cover your long distance for the week. Distance varies for each pace group between 6-8 miles for runners and are usually about 2 miles for walkers. But don't feel overwhelmed with this distance. If you aren't at a long distance yet that is completely okay! Frontrunners can arrange a runner to run with you for a shorter distance as you build up your distance. They are here to help! For longer distances Frontrunners always have group members training for a race, so if you are worried about the distance being too short, send them an email. They can connect you with members who may be going your distance. To sign-up for a pace group go to their pace group Google doc and enter your name.

No experience required to participate. Meet at the Forest Park Visitor Center. Bring water and nutrition if needed. There are some water fountains throughout the park as well.

St. Louis Frontrunners is a non-competitive running and walking club for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and ally persons. St. Louis Frontrunners has been actively supporting LGBT and LGBT allied athletes for almost 20 years. Frontrunners encourage runners and walkers of all abilities to join St. Louis Frontrunners and experience the support of a healthy, inclusive, and welcoming athletic community.
