The popular LGBT community owned watering hole Absolutli Goosed will be closing its doors on Oct. 3, co-owner Robin Schubert announced today - but with the online teaser that "exciting things [are] to come!!"
“This was a difficult decision, since the bar has a loyal following,” said Schubert via press release.
For the past 13 years, Absolutli Goosed has been a fixture on South Grand in the Tower Grove Neighborhood.
“It’s been exciting,” co-owner Joe Thele said. “I started out a customer here and loved the bar so much that I was happy to help keep it alive back in 2008 when the new ownership took over.”
Schubert cites the changing bar atmosphere as one of the reasons they have decided to close.
“When the bar first opened in 2002, it was one of a kind for St. Louis, but over the years the bar business has changed, as well as the martini craze has fizzled out.”
Absolutli Goosed has operated as a continuation of the original Absolutli Goosed concept, opened in 2002. In 2008, Goosed, LLC took over operations and continued to improve on the original concept while adapting to the ever changing bar atmosphere. Since then, the bar has consistently enjoyed both popular and critical success. “We’ve decided to go out while we are still on top of our game”, said Schubert.
The last day of business will be October 3, 2015. Everyone is encouraged to come in and visit with the staff and have their last Favorite Goosed drinks during this next week. On October 3rd Absolutli Goosed will have their final going away party, all are welcome. The owners are encouraging customers to share memories of Absolutli Goosed on its Facebook page.
