Shane Cohn Introduces Bill to Raise Minimum Wage in St. Louis City to $15 by 2020

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Openly gay St. Louis Alderman Shane Cohn has introduced a bill that calls for raising the minimum wage in St. Louis City to $15 an hour by 2020, KTVI reports.
Time is of the essence, officials say, as a new state law which bans cities from raising the minimum wage takes effect, Aug. 28.
If the bill passes as written, the minimum wage in St. Louis would jump from $7.65 to $10 an hour within weeks of being signed by Mayor Francis Slay, who announced his support for the legislation earlier this week. The minimum wage in the city would then increase incrementally until it reaches $15 in 2020.
