CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO – On October 28, 2014, Southeast Missouri State University's Board of Regents unanimously approved extending benefits to same-sex spouses of university employees of legally married couples.

This decision was made based on the Barrier v. Vasterling decision that came from a Jackson County Judge on October 3. The ruling stated that ALL legally married Missourians must be recognized in the state of Missouri. This decision has brought a lot of victories across the state of Missouri.

PROMO, Missouri's statewide LGBT advocacy organization, announced the news via its Facebook page: "We applaud the decision of Southeast Missouri University's Board of Regents today."
