The Trans 100 aims to provide an overview of the breadth and diversity of work being done in, by, and for the transgender community across the United States. New editions of The Trans 100 list are released every March at a live event in Chicago, Illinois.
"I am proud and honored to be recognized for my work with the trans community," said Johnson, who viewed the ceremony at a watch party sponsored by MTUG at the Metropolitan Church of Greater St. Louis. "I believe visibility is so vital to our movement and I am grateful to be an out, visible transgender person."
Johnson had already made plans to hold the watch party when he was notified two weeks ago by organizers that he was nominated and invited to attend the ceremony in Chicago.
"They asked me not to reveal until the event," said Johnson. "It was fun - lots of clapping."
