One Missouri County Has Yet to Comply With SCOTUS Same-Sex Marriage Ruling

As of Wednesday afternoon, Barry County in Southwest Missouri on the Arkansas boarder is the lone holdout in actively issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, according to PROMO, Missouri's statewide LGBT advocacy organization.

Barry County is currently "in process" to comply with last month's U.S. Supreme Court decision making marriage equality the law of the land.

Yesterday, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, signed an Executive Order mandating all government agencies, bureaus and commissions to fully implement the SCOTUS decision in Obergefell v. Hodges. This includes updating forms and operating procedures to be fully inclusive.
