Caitlyn Jenner, the 1976 Olympic Decathlon champion, television personality, and fast emerging trans icon was honored Wednesday night with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the annual ESPY's (short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award).

Jenner spoke movingly about her recent transition and the challenges facing the transgender community, especially trans women of color.

"If you want to call me names, make jokes, doubt my intentions, go ahead. Because the reality is, I can take it," said Jenner. "But for the thousands of kids out there coming to terms with being true to who they are, they shouldn't have to take it."
