ST. LOUIS, Mo. - LGBTQ friends, family and allies will again descend on Busch Stadium en masse for the 2nd official Pride Night at Busch Stadium to watch the St. Louis Cardinals take on division rivals the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 7:15 p.m.

With the purchase of a special Theme Ticket, fans will receive a commemorative Cardinals t-shirt with a rainbow STL logo. Pride night tickets can be purchased by clicking HERE. A portion of each Pride Night Theme Ticket sold will be donated to the Missouri Courage Scholarship to help fund its giving in 2019. Founded in 2015, MCS is the first and largest statewide LGBTQ scholarship organization in Missouri.

On deck for Pride Night will be the recognition of the 2018 MCS Courage Scholarship recipients, the St. Louis Balloon Brigade, and the Gateway Men’s Chorus singing “God Bless America” prior to the game.

Tyler Dunnington, former St. Louis Cardinals minor league player, who came out as gay in 2016 after leaving the organization, was recognized on the field at last year’s innaugural Pride Night game. He now serves on the Board of  Missouri Courage Scholarship.

“I am thrilled the Cardinals are partnering with MCS," said Dunnington, who will visit St. Louis to attend the Pride Night game with the MCS Board and Scholars. "It is so important to show young people across Missouri, and across the country, that being LGBTQ and participating in sports at all levels is something to celebrate.”

According to Cyd Zeigler, founder of the LGBTQ sports blog OutSports, all but two of the Major League Baseball teams have some form of Pride Night at their respective parks. The New York Yankees are set to be the lone holdout among the MLB's 30 teams once the Los Angeles Angels host their announced LGBTQ-themed night in June 2019.

"The sports world has long been assumed to be homophobic and an unwelcoming place for LGBTQ people," said Zeigler. "These Pride Nights are another positive step to demonstrate that the sports world is actually far more accepting than almost anyone gives it credit. It's great to see the Cardinals continue to welcome the community and embrace that message."

Also at last year's Pride Night at Busch stadium --Tassandra Crush, then reigning Queen of Pride, became the first transgender individual to throw the ceremonial "first pitch" in the United States for Major League Baseball. In June 2016, Pride Toronto Board Secretary Rachel Lauren Clark became the first member of the trans community to throw the "first pitch" at a MLB game for the Toronto Blue Jays to mark LGBTQ Pride month.

Pride Night at Busch Stadium is co-hosted by Pride St. Louis. Any Pride Night Theme Ticket holder is welcome to ride the Just John (4112 Manchester Ave., 63110) shuttle to and from the game for a $5 donation to PrideSTL. Reservations are encouraged.

Please note: the Pride t-shirt is available ONLY with the purchase of a special Theme Ticket. There is no specific Pride Night section so you can sit anywhere in the stadium, just remember to get your tickets through the Pride Night theme ticket link to get your shirt! All theme ticket purchases for events that include giveaway items will come with a game ticket and a separate voucher. The voucher can be redeemed at the game or pre-game festival for that event's giveaway item. You will not be able to receive the item unless you have your voucher with you at the event. You may pick up your t-shirt at the Budweiser Terrace Theme Tickets kiosk, across from Section 431, from 5:15p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
