EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders brought his grassroots presidential campaign to the Metro East on Friday packing the Vadalabene Center on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). This was Sanders' first campaign stop in the St. Louis region since launching his insurgent trek for the Democratic nomination last year. A millennial heavy crowd filled the venue, including an overflow area outside the "bene" where hundreds listed to speech on loudspeaker. Sanders spoke for about an hour, tackling a list of issues including healthcare, income inequality, LGBT rights, and racial and social justice. Both Illinois and Missouri will hold their presidential primaries on March 15, 2016.
