Sherrill Wayland, Deputy Director of PROMO Fund and former Executive Director of SAGE Metro St. Louis announced today that she will be leaving her position at PROMO, Missouri's statewide LGBT advocacy and policy organization, to take the position of Manager of National Projects with SAGE national. SAGE Metro St. Louis merged with PROMO Fund in June 2015. Below is the letter released by Wayland announcing her departure and future plans.

Dear Friends of SAGE,

I am writing today as I start a new chapter in my professional career. After a great amount of soul searching, I have accepted the position of Manager of National Projects with SAGE national. This career move is only possible because YOU have supported our local work here in St. Louis and Missouri. What an amazing journey we have traveled together over the past seven years!SherrillWaylandHeadshot

I will be forever grateful for the support you have provided SAGE as constituents, volunteers, board members, practicum students and staff. It is only because of you and your continued support of SAGE that we have built a successful SAGE program in Missouri that continues to be a positive force for change. With our recent merger, we now have Eugene Potchen-Webb leading the work in St. Louis and D. Rashaan Gilmore working to build the SAGE work in Kansas City.

As I start my new career, I am happy to announce that I will continue to be located in St. Louis. It is exciting to know that we will now have a local, state and national SAGE presence right here in Missouri. As the Manager of National Projects, I will be working with the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging and the National LGBT Elder Housing Initiative. Through this work I will use the skills and knowledge gained here in St. Louis to help further the advocacy and services in support of LGBT older adults across the United States.

The staff at PROMO Fund and SAGE national are dedicated to the work of SAGE in Missouri.

"SAGE of PROMO Fund has always been an innovator in building collaborative relationships to better serve LGBT older adults" states Michael Adams, SAGE Executive Director. "As Sherrill joins the national work at SAGE, we will continue to offer support and guidance to SAGE of PROMO Fund and look forward to their continued leadership in Missouri."

There are strong connections between SAGE national and SAGE of PROMO Fund - by no means is this goodbye. At SAGE we are family. I look forward to joining you from time to time at your SAGE lunches and catching up on the latest news.

I again want to thank YOU for an amazing seven years. I am confident in the team leading SAGE of PROMO Fund today and look forward to their continued success.

Sincerely,
Sherrill Wayland
