JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - PROMO, Missouri’s statewide LGBTQ advocacy organization, is hosting its Equality Day on Tuesday, February 19, at the Missouri State Capitol Building in Jefferson City.

"At PROMO, we believe in the power of storytelling," PROMO said in an event invite. "YOU matter and YOUR story matters! Equality Day is your chance to come OUT as a citizen lobbyist, share your story, and talk to legislators about the laws impacting LGBTQ Missourians.

During the annual Missouri LGBTQ Lobby Day, equality supporters will meet with their elected officials urging them to support pro-LGBTQ legislation, including the Missouri Nondiscrimination Act, that would include both gender identity and sexual orientation in the Missouri Human Rights statute. This would help protect LGBTQ Missourians from discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations.

The deadline to register for Equality Day 2019 is Tuesday, January 15th. The registration fee for Equality Day is a recommended $5 donation, however, sponsored registration is available. Register below and PROMO staff will get you connected with your Equality Day team and coaches.

The January 15th registration deadline (in lieu of same-day registration) was adopted to ensure participants are better prepared and ideally have a better experience making a difference for LGBTQ Missourians. Attendees will be paired with a coach and a small group to check in with in advance of the event.

"It is time that ALL Missourians are protected under state law. Together let’s say #MOEquality on February, 19th," said PROMO.
