MCS awards three types of scholarships:

The Missouri Courage Award (MCA) is for Missouri students who have demonstrated their commitment to work for change in their community to advance the lives of LGBTQIA people and other groups that have historically faced discrimination.

The Rural Courage Award (RCA) is intended for a student residing in Dent County, Missouri who meets the MCA scholarship qualifications. If there are no qualified applicants from students residing in Dent County, preference for the award will be given to a student from another rural part of the state.

The Trans Courage Award (TCA) is intended for a Missouri student who identifies as transgender and who meets the MCA scholarship qualifications. If there are no qualified applicants from students identifying as transgender, an additional MCA will be awarded at the discretion of the scholarship committee.

All awards have a minimum value of $500 with a maximum value of $3,000. Missouri Courage Scholarship also performs outreach and application screening for associated LGBTQ+ organizations.
