Havana Brown is an Australian DJ, singer, songwriter and producer. Wildly popular “down under,” Brown has had the opportunity to perform alongside legends like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. And with the U.S. release of “We Run the Night (Feat. Pitbull),” which sold over 2.5 million copies world-wide, Havana Brown took America by storm.
#Boom recently caught up with Brown ahead of her St. Louis PrideFest debut on the Bud Light Entertainment Stage on Saturday, June 25, at 6: 45 p.m.
What do you have in store for PrideFest in St. Louis this summer?
Expect the unexpected
Will this be your first pride performance?
I actually performed at Great America's Pride night a few years ago with Iggy Azalea, Wynter Gordon and Village People in the Bay Area.
What was your first pride experience like?
It was so much fun, I loved seeing everyone dressed so vibrant and really getting into the spirit of the event.
How does performing at pride compare to other performances?
You can’t go wrong performing at pride, the energy and people is always amazing!
What are you looking forward to most at PrideFest St. Louis?
This will be my first visit to St Louis and I'm so excited to get there and perform at PrideFest. I’ve heard so many great things about the city and looking forward to the festival
Where is your favorite place to perform?
I have a few favorite cities, but I can say Las Vegas is definitely in my top list to perform. There is never a dull moment and people are usually there to party and have a good time.
You have performed with a lot of big names like Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, will we be able to see you performing with them in the states any time soon?
I have been lucky enough to perform and support some of the greatest pop stars in the music biz, totally grateful. However my focus in recent times is to work on my own shows and headline tours. However, whenever I get that call from a mega pop star that I admire for a tour support, I will definitely make it happen.
Speaking of big names, have you been able to meet your idol, Janet Jackson?
Unfortunately no, but hopefully one day.
You have been a popular DJ for a while now, when did you decide to start singing in addition?
I have been singing for years, way before I started DJ'ing. However when I decided to start DJ'ing it was always my plan to release my own music as a singer/DJ, it had never been done before and it has always been my dream to release original music.
What can we expect to see from you in the future? Are you currently working on anything?
I am currently working on my next album which I am excited about. It's a bit of a new sound for me which I can't wait for the fans to hear.
What does PRIDE mean to Havana Brown?
To me it is acceptance of who you truly are and how you choose to represent yourself inside and out, being proud of your true self.
