Black Pride St. Louis introduced its 2018 -2019 Board of Directors at a Meet & Greet Happy Hour event on Thursday at Evangeline's Bistro & Music House in the Central West End.

 

At 15 members, this year's Black Pride St. Louis Board is the largest in over 10 years. New members elected to the Black Pride board are:

W. Taft Harris - Spirituality & Religious Affairs Chair

Latonya Kelly - Aging & Senior Advocacy Chair

Emoni Derielle Lambert - Board Member At-Large

Damion Parks-Weekly - Treasurer

Stephanie Paulson - Board Member At-Large

Bryon Pierson - Economic Development Chair

Jennifer Porter - Secretary

Trent Ramsey - Arts & Entertainment Chair

 

These individuals join Boards Members, DJ Rucker, Education Chair; Jonathan Neal, Marketing Chair; Mary Jackson, Membership & Volunteer Chair; Leon A. Braxton, Jr., Vice President; and Randy L. Rafter, President.

 

Nearly 30 individuals applied for vacancies within the organization. All candidates selected completed applications, attended an orientation course regarding the background of the organization, and went through a two-part panel interview with a nominating committee of board members, community leaders, and elders of the community.

 

“We are truly excited to welcome such an amazing group of individuals to the Board," said Randy Rafter, Black Pride St. Louis President. "Each individual brings their vast levels of expertise to the Board allowing for Black Pride St. Louis to identify strategies and programming that will build equity within the community the organization serves. As we continue to grow, we look forward to continuing more in-depth year-round programming and working to make Black Pride weekend bigger and better than ever."

 

Founded in 1995, Black Pride St. Louis is the nation’s second oldest African American LGBTQIA+ Pride organization. Formerly known as the B-Boy Blues Festival, Black Pride St. Louis’ mission is to serve as a resource for the Black & underserved LGBTQIA+ community while being a catalyst for unity, empowerment, and pride.
