Fall is here and so is flu season. Some 80,000 Americans died of flu last year, the deadliest season in at least four decades.

 

According to experts, the best way to prevent the virus is with a flu shot. While not 100 percent effective against the virus, the vaccine will help you from getting really sick. It can also stop the spread to vulnerable populations you come in contact with — pregnant women, babies, older adults, and those with a compromised immune system.

 

Below is a list compiled by the St. Louis Post Dispatch of where you can get your flu shot this year.

 

 

-Barnes-Jewish Hospital launched its annual free flu shot clinics this week. Shots will be available Saturday at Siteman Cancer Center in South County and Sunday at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. In North County, a clinic is set for Oct. 14 at Christian Hospital.

-SSM Health will also host free flu shot clinics across the St. Louis area this weekend, including a drive-thru version.

 

-Anyone ages 9 and older can get the shot from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at SSM hospitals St. Mary's in Richmond Heights, St. Clare in Fenton, St. Joseph in Lake Saint Louis, DePaul in Bridgeton and the outpatient center at 711 Veterans Memorial Parkway in St. Charles.

 

-The drive-thru flu shot clinic available to anyone ages 6 months and older will be held at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, in the parking lot of the Ronald McDonald House at 3450 Park Ave. in St. Louis.

 

-The St. Louis County Department of Public Health will host two flu shot clinics on October 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at John C. Murphy Community Health Center, 6121 North Hanley Road in Berkeley and at South County Community Health Center, 4580 South Lindbergh Blvd.

 

-Flu shots are also available daily at the county health clinics plus North Central Community Health Center at 4000 Jennings Station Road in Pine Lawn.
